The site is simply magnificent and showcases the very best of the picturesque Northern Rivers region of NSW. You will again be treated to brilliant natural terrain tracks, improved even further for this year, along with a host of other improvements.

At this event you really can really turn back time to those years when scrambles and motocross tracks really were just pegged out on a grassy hillside and just like it was done at the original Classic Dirt – Classic Dirt 2000! Except there’s many more tracks to choose from these days: Motul Pre ‘95, twinshock, vinduro loops and Stay Upright trials.

Everyone loved the brand-new shower block with its brand-new hot water system last year! Finally, a venue for vintage dirt bike riders that has first class facilities. Toilets will be the usual portables.

As well, we’ve gone up a notch with the catering this year. As well as having some of our elements from last year, this year we will have Smoking Delicious o -site! This is Ian “Macca” McGregor’s food service that has won numerous awards and they’ l have fantastic brisket and pulled pork burgers among other offerings for you to enjoy. There’ll also be another coffee van on-site this year.

We must give our thanks for these facilities and indeed a ton of improvements to this facility by the property owner, John Boyd.

He has been just incredible with the way he has spent so much time and money on making sure that the Three Pines MX Park will be an even better destination than in 2023. The Trade Stand area is now bigger and flatter and there’s a bit more space in the main camping area. The township of Kyogle is only twenty minutes to the south, while Woodenbong is only fifteen minutes to the north. Brisbane and the Gold Coast are each only a bit over two hours away. Kyogle has a good range of accommodation plus a supermarket, fuel and a few pubs.

Plus, there’ll be all the same old elements of VMX Magazine Classic Dirt that you’ve come to know and love – trade stands, swapmeet sellers, Legends interviews, Show and Shine, live music on Saturday night and the trivia competition.

Here are the dates and location.

When: 2-4 August (Friday-Sunday) 2024

Where: Three Pines MX Park –

129 Montgomerys Road, Sherwood (next to Grevillia), NSW 2474

What’s on when?

A full schedule will soon be on our website but the abridged version is as follows:

Thursday: THE EVENT IS NOT OPEN ON THURSDAY, with gates open to the public at 7.30am on Friday. Security personnel will be on the gate 24 hours a day Thursday morning through to Sunday afternoon.

Friday: The event will be open all day Friday, with full catering all day. There will be no riding on the Friday however you can complete your rider sign-on for riding on Saturday and Sunday. In the evening, the ‘Go the Rat – Magoo’ bar will be open for refreshments in the great indoor and outdoor food/bar area where you can sit back and relax…just as our old mate Bruce would (the Bar is in honour of VMX legend Bruce McFarland).

Saturday: Ride your heart out! There’ll be riding sessions all day (remember, there is NO RACING at CD17) and there will be two motocross tracks, a vintage enduro loop (easy/ hard options) and a trials section. All tracks are brand new, natural terrain tracks! The trivia quiz will be held early Saturday evening with some fabulous prizes. Catering will of course be on hand Saturday evening, for all your food and drink requirements (beer will be available from the ‘Go The Rat – Magoo’ Bar as well). After that, it’s time to boogie along with a few numbers from the ‘70s and ‘80s.

Sunday: More riding of course, with all tracks open all day. Those who want to camp overnight and leave Monday morning can do so.

Monday: The event officially closes at noon Monday and the site must be completely vacated by this time. There is NO riding on the Monday.

Show and Shine

Every year the Show and Shine at Classic Dirt presented a wonderful array of top class machinery. This year, we’re sure it will be bigger again and will be held during the Sunday lunch break. There will be some great prizes, with a prize for the winner of each category. Plus, the overall winning bike will be guaranteed a feature spot in a future issue of VMX Magazine!

Riding Info

As mentioned, there’ll be two motocross tracks. Both are natural terrain with no man- made features — not a one! The Pre ‘95 is about 2km in length while the Twinshock track is about 1km. There will be a marked vinduro loop (with Easy/Hard options) of about 5 km and this will be open primarily to bikes that are equipped with a headlight and tail light. Trials bikes will be catered for as well, with an area set aside just for them – the Trials area will be for Trials bikes only. All of these tracks will be set out in the program that you receive on arrival, including entry and exit points.

Catering

The event will be fully catered on-site for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hot Shot Coffee Van will supply the hot beverages. The Rotary Club will be arranging breakfast and the Garden Club will be there to offer something sweet. As mentioned earlier, there’ll also be the fabulous Smoking Delicious food tent.

Accommodation

Camping will be available at the venue and CAMPING IS FREE, whether a rider or spectator. Basic toilet/shower (hot/cold) facilities will be on site. If you’d prefer to stay off-site then there is ample accommodation in the surrounding area – Bed and Breakfast, Motel, Hotel, Cabins, Caravan Parks – in Kyogle (twenty minutes away) or one of the other local towns.

Swapmeet

The swapmeet will run Friday to Sunday and there will be no better opportunity to access other vintage dirt bike enthusiasts than at CD17 – so start loading up the trailer with those parts that are sitting idle under your bench. Most people prefer to sell items from their camping spot and there will be no charge for private sellers. If you require a dedicated space in the Trade Stand area then a fee will apply and that space needs to be organised prior to the event. Contact sou@vmxmag.com.au for pricing.

Riding and Entrance Fees

This year, we have again gone for the streamlined fees and made it easier for riders and spectators. Everyone coming through the gate still receives a free souvenir, full-colour program. Children under 16 are FREE. As well, CAMPING IS FREE for everyone, rider or spectator!

Rider Fee is $225

Spectator fee is $20

Yep, that’s it, couldn’t be simpler. Two full days of riding, event entry and camping all for $225. Riders will still need to pay for a one-event Licence if they don’t have an existing Competition Licence. The one event Licence will be available for purchase when you enter. Payment via Ridernet can be by credit card (a card fee applies). Once entered, you will receive a receipt via email and that receipt must be shown at the gate to gain entry to Classic Dirt and to be shown again at Riders Sign On. To enter on Ridernet, use this link: https:// www.ridernet.com.au/eventView/?e=1758757 or alternately, scan the QR code.

Rider Registration/Pre-Entry

We are capping entry numbers to 250 riders! The first 250 riders to enter will be the only people riding at the event, as NO ENTRIES WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE EVENT. All Entries are to be lodged with Ridernet and an entry link and more information will be available soon. Our 250 rider limit means that all riders will have easy access to tracks with no waiting!
