You can’t take the ‘New Jersey’ out of Joe Abbate, even though he’s been living in California since 2009, as that distinctive New Jersey accent still dominates every sentence. Lots of people get to hear Joe’s accent of course, on his ‘Vintage Motocross Q&A Live Feed’ Facebook site, answering all your restoration questions.
Joe has built up a considerable knowledge on dirt bike restoration and it’s that knowledge that people attending VMX Magazine Classic Dirt 16 will be able to soak up. He’s a pretty entertaining guy as well so it will be fun!

There’ll be two Q&A and restoration sessions from Joe, one late Friday afternoon and one late Saturday afternoon. At one of the sessions, Joe will also be giving a demonstration on aluminium tank repairs, one of his specialties. Yes, he’s even bringing his tools to the event.
He started ‘Joe Abbate’s Cycle Therapy’ restoration business in 2000 and like many of us, he had previously been a racer, mainly in New York state. Joe made a big push to get ‘American Motocross Restoration’ happening as a cable TV show but it was just too high a mountain. But he’s still pursuing that dream and you never know with Joe!
So please think up some questions for Joe at the event or just look forward to having a great chat with him over the weekend. We’re just very glad to have him with us for VMX Magazine Classic Dirt 16!
